perel hana b. sessler
So, what's with the name change?
As a child my parents called me Perel Hana Esther (the H in Hana is more like the CHA in Chanukah ...) eventually my secular name phyllis belkin took over...and well according to one of my favorite podcasters, Helen Zaltzman of the Allusionist it's never too late to change your name, so I did just that.
Perel is an accomplished NYC-bred audio producer, editor and photojournalist. She has documented wide-ranging stories, from girls and their bodies, to the unhoused, national and local political campaigns to organic farming and birding. While Perel began her career covering the anti- nuclear movement in London, she officially cut her teeth shooting stills at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and worked as the Set Photographer for films in Rhode Island and NYC. Often sought out for her recognized documentary style for portraits, and atypical folk from the corporate arena. Eventually pivoting to radio, with her oral-history approach, places her work at the crossroads of narrative storytelling and community engagement. She has worked on public/private partnerships, economic and community development, and now brings her creative approach to mission driven organizations looking to amplify their work with thoughtful beautiful stories created by pb. She is the founder of L’radio, a woman's podluck listening group, a seasonal knitter, painter, obsessive composter, treehugger who loves to swim, bike, ski and is a devoted mother of three.
